Story: Heading to the Ground is the simple love
story between Cha Bong Goon (Jung Yunho), the man who has nothing but passion, and Kang Hae Bin (Go Ara), the girl who seemingly has everything but wants to stand on her own. This drama will be a heartwarming story about a young man who has three brushes with death but survives to overcome and eventually succeed.

Cha Bong Goon - 차봉군 (Jung Yunho)
He has kicked around a soccer ball since he was a kid and became a soccer player at a league team with a dismal record. He has a knack for always being at the right scoring position with his powerful kick. Yet, his life away from the soccer field is full of trouble; due to his hot temper, he is always getting into fights. One day his team is disbanded and his professional career as a soccer player becomes precarious when a sports agent by the name of Hae Bin appears in his life. The bitterness he has towards Seung Woo turns for the worse when they both try to win Hae Bin's love.
Kang Hae Bin - 강해빈 (Go Ara)
She is the daughter of the owner of the soccer team in the K-League. Ever since she was little, she was an avid sports fan. When her dad disappoints her by having an affair with his secretary, she moves out of the house as soon as she graduates from college. She finds a job at a sports marketing firm and works as an agent for soccer players. In the male-dominated sports industry, she is scorned and belittled since she's the only female sports agent. While constantly bickering with Cha Bong Goon over little matters, she gradually falls in love with him. Her goal is to make Bong Goon the most marketable player in soccer.
Jang Seung Woo - 장승우 (Lee Sang Yoon)
He was admitted to a prestigious university with the highest score among his freshmen class. He later became the youngest person to ever pass the bar exam. He has never lost any competition during his life and has supreme confidence of his abilities. He is admired by everyone and there's only one girl he truly loves, Hae Bin. But Cha Bong Goon, a mediocre soccer player, tries to win Hae Bin's heart. He gets upset every time he sees Hae Bin look at Bong Goon affectionately.

Oh Yeon Yi - 오연이 (Lee Yoon Ji)
She is a childhood friend of Bong-gun and they went to the same elementary school as kids. She works as a nutritionist for a soccer team. She has a crush on Bong Goon but doesn't have the courage to confess her feelings to him; she's a lovable liar.

Episode 1: Ratings: 6.2% - 7.2%
We are first introduced to the main characters: BongGoon, HaeBin, SangYoon and YeonYi. BongGoon finds out that his soccer team has disbanded and vows to never play soccer again. HaeBin discovers BongGoon's talents and goes off to find him. BongGoon is not at his house but working at another part-time job. HaeBin and BongGoon meet for the first time on the street and BongGoon saves her. HaeBin realizes that the same person who helped her is the person that she is looking for.

Episode 2:
Ratings: 5.0% - 5.6%

HaeBin finally meets BongGoon but BongGoon is stubborn about not playing soccer again until he is (kind of) forced into it. HaeBin extremely sad and disappointed gets drunk and BongGoon goes off to look for her. Their relationship is deepened but some complications get in the way. BongGoon tries out for the soccer team and thinks that he doesn't make it, when HaeBin comes with the news that he is the next player in the K-League.

Episode 3: Ratings: ??? - 6.3%
Bong Goon is officially part of FC Soul and moves into the dormitory where he meets the other players. They tell Bong Goon that the only reason he got in was because he was a package deal with Lee Dong Ho. Bong Goon, furious, confronts Hae Bin and they fight. Hae Bin working hard towards securing Bong Goon's position in the team, sings, dances and gets drunk. During the night, Bong Goon looks for Hae Bin and a tender moment is brought forth. Hae Bin wakes up the next morning only to discover that she is at his house.

Episode 4: Ratings: 5.6% - 6.0%
Bong Goon is allowed to attend the soccer game with the other players and contacts everyone. Seung Woo asks Hae Bin if they should start dating each other officially but Seung Woo is interrupted when Hae Bin realizes that Bong Goon is at his first soccer game. Bong Goon gets to play in the game but it quickly ends when he is given the red card. Hae Bin, while trying to make him feel better, and Bong Goon fight and Bong Goon tries to apologize the next day. He never gets a chance because Hae Bin gets kidnapped.

Episode 5: Ratings: 5.4% - 5.6%
Bong Goon is at the hospital when the doctors say that there is nothing else that they can do. Hae Bin in shock refuses to believe them and Bong Goon starts to come back to life. Hae Bin is frantic with worry and overjoyed when Bong Goon wakes up . . . only to find out that he has lost his memory. Yeon Yi is very worried about Bong Goon and when Hae Bin tells her what happened, she tells Hae Bin to never come here again. Seung Woo is feeling happy that Bong Goon got injured. Bong Goon makes a friend by the name of Batman. Because of Batman, Bong Goon gets taken to a mental institute.


Episode 6: Ratings: 4.8% - 4.4%

At the mental hospital, Bong Goon tries to escape and get hurts several times. There he befriends an old lady by the name of Ae Ja. Hae Bin visits him and leaves a present and a note. Yeon Yi reads the note and realizes that Bong Goon has gone missing once again. Nobody knows where Bong Goon is. Finally, Bong Goon regains his memory and realizes that he is in a dreadful situation.

Episode 7: Ratings: 6.3% - 6.9%

Bong Goon and Ae Ja try to escape from the mental institution but while taking a break from all of the running, they get caught. Right after Bong Goon is missing from the institution, Hae Bin comes in to look for him. Hae Bin meets Bong Goon's friend Batman and she waits for Bong Goon outside. Bong Goon, back at the institution, is in his room when suddenly the building starts to crumble. Everybody is evacuated out when he runs back inside to rescue Ae Ja. Hae Bin follows Bong Goon and Ae Ja to the hospital and Bong Goon returns home.

Episode 8: Ratings: 5.4% - 5.1%

Bong Goon returns to the soccer team and meets up with his friend, Maxim. Bong Goon thanks Yeon Yi for all she has done for him. Hae Bin is upset at Seung Woo and feels that she cannot trust him anymore. Bong Goon's new fanclub, Shooting Star, comes to visit the agency. Hae Bin brings Bong Goon some presents and Bong Goon leads her to a dark room.
Episode 9: Ratings: 6.8% - 5.5%

Bong Goon and Hae Bin almost get caught being together in the locker room, but then they get rescued by Yeon Yi. Dong Ho comes to visit the potato stew shop. Dong Ho's knee injury gets worse during the soccer game and his inability to make a goal, makes the team lose. Hae Bin finds out that Byul has a disease and Ae Ja revises her will. Bong Goon stands up for himself and gets picked to play in the practice game.
Episode 10: Ratings: 5.1% - 5.3%

Bong Goon does really well in the practice soccer game and the reporters start noticing him. Bong Goon asks Hae Bin to help him pick out a birthday present for his sister Byul. Seung Woo gives a present to Hae Bin because it is her birthday and she doesn't want anyone to know. Dong Ho asks Yeon Yi out to a date and during the date, Yeon Yi rejects him. Bong Goon and Hae Bin enter a singing contest and Hae Bin wins first place. Bong Goon is at home, enjoying Byul's birthday party when he finds out that Hae Bin's birthday is also today and rushes out to meet Hae Bin. He buys Hae Bin a birthday present and she is touched. Bong Goon gets chosen to play in the next soccer game.
Episode 11: Ratings: 3.3% - 3.8%

BongGoon changes his look. On his day off, he sees Yeon Yi and she tells him that she does not like Hae Bin. Hae Bin sees Seung Woo and Seung Woo thanks her for coming into his life. Ae Ja takes Bong Goon shopping and buys him a suit. She advises him to go on a date with Hae Bin. Bong Goon takes Hae Bin out to a fancy restaurant and Seung Woo sees them together. After their date together, Yeon Yi confesses to Bong Goon that she loves him and asks him to answer after he has thought about it. Bong Goon is at the soccer game and he makes two goals. On the second goal, he hurts Dong Ho.
Episode 12: Ratings: 4.2% - 4.7%
BongGoon receives an offer to go to the Japanese League. DongHo is admitted to the hospital and it is announced that he might never be able to play soccer again. YeonYi lies to HaeBin saying that BongGoon wants to go to the J-League. HaeBin and BongGoon get into a misunderstanding because of BongGoon. Shooting Star finally has a fanclub meeting with their beloved BongGoon and HaeBin joins too. BongGoon and HaeBin make up at the end.

Episode 13: Ratings: 5.3% - 5.9%
BongGoon finally gets to see the inside of HaeBin's house. BongGoon also refuses YeonYi's confession. The agent from the previous episode gets revenge on BongGoon and SeungWoo further provokes him. BongGoon ends up punching SeungWoo and he gets kicked out. DongHo tries to kill himself. BongGoon begs for forgiveness. HaeBin tries to cheer BongGoon up and then she visits her father the next day to get him to take BongGoon back.
